in general

OK, LJ is being weird. Nothing new.

The hiatus on birthday posts will continue, likely until I get re-settled somewhere. "Tenuous at best" is a good description of internet connectivity at my current temporary residence, as can be inferred from the location on this post.

If any of you feel the need to get in touch with me in a fairly timely manner, you can probably obtain my cell # from any of several of our friends in common, or you can e-mail me (addy is on my profile page). I'm not putting either of those things on here.

hiatus

The birthday posts are going on hiatus, seeing as how I am not sure if I will be able to continue doing them in my new location.  Since there will be yet another new location in a month or so, we'll see what happens.

Wish me luck!

Moving

Some of you, particularly those that only follow me here, may not be aware that I am preparing to move out of "Da Beehive".  My landlady's son will be moving in here and they need my room.  I will be going to stay with my good friend pensnuggles and her family for a while, and later with another friend.  That means moving twice within two months or so.  I don't have a lot of choice; I have to go where someone will take me because I have no income and public housing is a LOT harder to get into than it sounds like it would be. Plus, I hate moving, especially this move.

I have felt more "at home" here at Da Beehive than I have anywhere else except at HOME (my late parents' in Heyworth).  When I told Dorothy this she said she was glad because it meant she had done her job well.  She has.  She is a wonderful lady and an excellent friend.  It does make it difficult to leave, in an emotional sense.  I do not harbor any resentment towards her or her family, I just feel bad, because I'm pretty sure I will not feel as much "at home" at the next couple of places I am going to be staying.

Here's hoping that the next few months end up being productive and prosperous.

Farewell & RIP to M/Sgt Paul J. Wiedorfer, Medal of Honor recipient.   Also to 124 people in Joplin, Missouri.

Born May 26th:

James Arness, Roy Dotrice, Alec McCowen, Jack Kevorkian, Teresa Stratas, Brent Musburger, Levon Helm, Garry Peterson, Stevie Nicks, Pam Grier, Philip Michael Thomas, Joe Alaskey, Hank Williams Jr., Sally Ride, Sen. Kay Hagan, Genie Francis, Lenny Kravitz, Helena Bonham Carter,

and, unofficially, it's National Paper Airplane Day.  Also, on this day in 1940, a flotilla of "little ships" began a mass evacuation of British, French and Belgian troops cut off by the German army during the Battle of Dunkirk.

Note that there may be some degree of discontinuity in these posts over the next few weeks.  Let's just say reality rears its somewhat-less-than-gorgeous head yet again.
